The U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (formerly Immigration & Naturalization Services, also known as "INS") requires online appointment setting and canceling; this is the location to visit for these activities. Instructions are in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Polish, and several other languages.

Provides information on services and benefits provided to applicants, petitioners, authorized representatives, community-based organizations, and the general public. Call 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY) for 24/7 English and Spanish language assistance for immigration-related matters. 

 

Affidavit of Support

"The Affidavit of Support is legally required for the petitioning sponsor for many family-based and some employment based immigrants to show the intending immigrant will have adequate means of support, when planning to immigrate to the U.S. ... A “petitioning sponsor” is a person who has filed an immigrant petition, which has been approved by USCIS."  Read more here about the process of proving that an immigrant will not require public support.
