Arizona State University Libraries Song Index

Searchable by title, composer, group, and other features.  Results give books in which the songs can be found, and The Newark Public Library includes many of these titles in its collections.  To enter the database, select the Start Over tab, then choose Electronic Resources, then Indexes and Research Tools, then Subject, and type "Song Index" in the Specific Name box; click on the words Song Index to begin your search.

 

California Library Systems Cooperative Song Index

“Over 135,000 song titles (mostly popular music), over 1,300 items indexed (song books, magazines, and other collections). Compiled from the collections of SJVLS Libraries and California Library System Reference Centers. Maintained by the San Joaquin Valley Information Service.”  Note that the index tells us sources of words and music; the sheet music is not online at this site.  If The Newark Public Library does not have the listed book, staff will work to obtain the desired work.
