In the time it takes you to read one whole book, you could read many, many articles, thereby getting many, many viewpoints (and also impressing school teachers).  Ask your librarian to help you with these great databases:

Finding Books to Borrow 

 

Some possible subject terms to search in the Library's catalog:

 

  • Indians of North America 
  • Indians of North America--History 
  • Indians of North America—New Jersey (or another state) 
  • Trail of Tears 
  • The name of a tribe of interest to you, for example: Cherokee Indians 
  • The name of the famous Native American of interest to you. If the person was known by his/her first name in English, use that and then, if applicable, the person’s title, for example: Joseph, Chief or Sacajawea. 

 

 

Browsing the Shelves 

 

The Dewey Decimal Classification System arranges books by subject.

 

Most of the books about Native Americans are in the 970-971s, but some are also in the 973s, the 975s, and the 978-979s.
