Home Energy Assistance – HEA & LIHEAP (NJ Department of Community Affairs) www.state.nj.us/dca/divisions/dhcr/offices/eap.html#1 1-800-510-3102 "The Home Energy Assistance Program helps very low-income residents with their heating and cooling bills, and makes provisions for emergency heating system services and emergency fuel assistance within the Home Energy Assistance Program."
Universal Service Fund (NJ Department of Community Affairs) www.state.nj.us/dca/divisions/dhcr/offices/eap.html#2 1-866-240-1347 "Helps make energy bills more affordable for low income customers. If you are eligible, USF can lower the amount you have to pay for natural gas and electricity."
Weatherization Assistance (NJ Department of Community Affairs) www.state.nj.us/dca/divisions/dhcr/offices/eap.html#3 "Assists elderly, handicapped and low-income persons in weatherizing their homes, improving their heating system efficiency and conserving energy." Assistance is provided to: Low-income occupants; community-based agencies assisting low-income occupied dwelling units.
Winter Termination Program (State of New Jersey Board of Public Utilities) www.bpu.state.nj.us/bpu/assistance/programs 1-800-624-0241 "Administered by the State of New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, the Winter Termination Program (WTP) protects specific categories of customers from having their gas or electric shut off between November 15th and April 1st. Those enrolled in specific programs (such as SSI, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, USF and Lifeline) are protected by WTP, and an additional “catch-all” category is included for people unable to pay their utility bills because of circumstances beyond their control such as unemployment or illness."
JCP&L Assistance Extended Due Date. "If you are at least 60 years old and receive a Social Security or pension check, or if you receive disability assistance, and your electric bill is usually due just before your monthly benefit check comes, we can extend your payment due date until after your check arrives." Extended Payment Plan." If conditions make it difficult to pay your electric bill on time, we can arrange an extended payment plan. This maintains service while you make payments more suited to your financial situation." Military Deferred Payment Program (Call 1-800-962-0383) "This program is designed to assist customers who are having financial difficulties because their family members have been called to active military duty. Customers participating in the program may elect to defer paying either all or part of their monthly electric bill. When the family member in the military service returns home, the account will be reviewed to determine payment arrangements for the balance owed."
