The Perseus Project is, in its own words, "an evolving digital library of resources for the study of the ancient world and beyond." Coordinated through Tufts University's Department of Classics, the Project provides access to a wealth of Classical texts (mostly Greek and Roman) in the original and in translation. It also offers access to images of Classical art, architecture, and everyday objects.

Women in the ancient Greek world had few rights in comparison to male citizens. Unable to vote, own land, or inherit, a woman's place was in the home and her purpose in life was the rearing of children.
