Plainfield City Directories

 The city directories span 1870 to 1982, with gaps, with varying information on the city over the one hundred and twelve year span of their coverage. The earliest directory held by the Library is the Elizabeth directory for 1870, which includes an eleven-page section for Plainfield businesses. By the time the final directory was published in 1982, its roughly 700 pages were dedicated to Plainfield and North Plainfield exclusively.
