The Essex County Prosecutor's Victim-Witness Advocacy Office recognizes that becoming a crime victim is a devastating experience. It is very important that you, as the victim or witness of a crime, have access to essential services to help you return to your everyday activities. The Office guides victims and witnesses to resources ranging from food, clothing, shelter, and daycare for pre-school children, to professional assistance in dealing with the psychological trauma of crime.

The Safe House - Domestic Violence Shelter

A safe shelter for battered women and their children. The Safe House provides safe, temporary housing for women and children. Additional services provided include emergency medical treatment, emotional support, short-term counseling to those in crisis and assistance with welfare, child care, vocational and educational referrals, legal advocacy, housing advocacy, help in police and court proceedings, and nutritional meals.
